Brunei aiming to profit from Halal brand

Brunei Darussalam through its Brunei Halal brand project aims to become a leading nation in the halal industry and targets to profit from the lucrative global halal market.

Before that can be realised however, it needed to resolve several challenges concerning the move, including the preparation of a proper system and processes before the project can start generating sustainable revenues to support the country’s socio-economic development.

In line with its policy to diversify the economy away from oil and gas, Brunei Darussalam is making a strong push to tap the lucrative potentials within the global halal market, conservatively estimated to be worth US$560 billion a year.
