About
JAKIM, or the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia, is a government body that issues the Malaysian Halal certificate and logo to local and international food and non food producers.
Its objective is to analyse, certify and regulate all food and Islamic products as effectively and efficiently as possible, and to make sure that they remain Halal and pure for the consumption of the Muslim population.
JAKIM is also envisioned to be the global Halal certification and service center that is both authoritative and acknowledged within the domestic and international levels.
Domestically, this comes with an enforcement responsibility, to make sure that all existing holders of the Malaysian Halal certificate who do declare that their products as Halal, do adhere to the requirements of Halal as stipulated within the Syariah law.
